My Mission
“Through the work I do with singers, it is my hope that each individual is able to identify and embrace the unique qualities they bring to the artistic expression of their voice. Regardless of their background or prior experience, I am driven to ensure that our time together is centered around exploring tools that help them let go of the fears which inhibit them, learn to trust in their abilities, and to take the kind of sustainable risks that inspire and move audiences.”

My Teaching Philosophy
In my teaching I seek to impart upon students working with me a greater understanding of the function of their singing instrument. As my background is based in classical singing, I utilize technical exercises and vocalises which emanate from the ‘bel canto’ tradition. I believe that a thorough understanding of those fundamental principles of breath, resonance, legato, and vibrato offer a sound and efficient foundation for the development of optimal vocal production. Every singer thinks and communicates differently; therefore, I strongly believe that a student-centered approach is essential towards the mission of meeting the needs of each individual choosing to work with me. Because the process of learning to sing is such an intimate and deeply personal experience, I am always mindful of the environment I create in the room. It is a space where vulnerability, laughter, and curiosity are both welcomed and encouraged. By taking a holistic approach to their training, my goal is to equip my students with the ability to approach a wide variety of vocal styles with a technical approach that is functionally sustainable, expressive, and professionally viable.
